Our classroom economy has been suffering from a recent recession and extremely high inflation.  Our current executive administration is working on generating new jobs and getting our economy under control.  As the second trimester comes to a close, all jobs are being opened up and we will begin a major restructuring jobs program.  Students will write a letter of application and jobs will be filled based on previous job perfomance, qualifications and the ability to follow directions and also to show initiative.  Those people who have been doing an excellent job will have the option of continuing their job but keep in mind we have several new jobs to offer. Students who have joined the class later in the year and some others have not had jobs and we hope to solve the unemployment problem.  An additonal important announcement:  we will having a depression.  Students are advised to spend their money.  Keep in mind, in our depression the rich students will remain richer but their balances will be much smaller.  Also keep in mind that the cost of items will also drop.

Students and parents, the class is doing a trial for healthy snacks. Please have your kids bring healthy snacks such as:Granola bars, Sun chips,and dairy products. This means so much, thanks for your cooperation!

Family math magic night was on March 3rd, in the library at Vestal Elementary. It had a real math magician! How do I know? He pulled many bunnies out of his hat! We also had illusions that would give you a headache and magic tricks that would drive you mad. My favorite trick was the binary magic. You think of a number between 1 and 31 you tell them if it is in the 5 boxes, then they will guess your number! It was great!  Food was provided by Title 1 funds and the events were organized and presented by Mrs. Byrne and Mr. Blanchard (the Amazing Mathmagician). 

Our school recently acquired a new computer lab housed in Ms. McCurdy's classroom.  Our class has been using it for some math practice and will be using it for some testing and writing.  Students need to have their own headphones (headsets, ear buds or earphones) to use. A recent classroom donation has been received and can be used to buy a set if students do not bring a set in for use.
